Bengaluru: The state government plans to permit over 1,000 new liquor shops across the state. These new liquor shops will come up according to the population density.
The excise department shared a circular stating that they will be conducting a survey to identify villages/ towns/ wards where the new liquor shops can be opened. This will be set up based on the population density.
After the farm loan waiver scheme, the state exchequer is almost empty. One of the ways of increasing revenue is to increase the number of liquor shops in the state which in return boost the revenue of the state government,” said an officer from the excise department.
