Bengaluru: The transfer order of IAS officer Randeep who was shunted from his position as the Additional Commissioner of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has been reversed due to pressure from citizens and civic organisations.

On Friday, November 30 Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy had signed a circular listing out transfer orders of IAS officers in the state which also included Randeep’s name. The circular stated that Randeep would be posted as the Commissioner of Social Welfare Department.

This decision of the government was criticised by many citizens and civic organisations because  Randeep was open to initiating various reforms in the waste management and animal husbandry departments. Following the public uproar in the city, the government had directed  Randeep to return to his former position in BBMP.

It may be recalled that Randeep was left out of a delegation headed by Bengaluru Development Minister and Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara that visited France to study the feasibility of waste-to-energy plants and waste management processes of French municipalities.
