Govt staff strike: Bommai hikes salaries of employees by 17%

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday announced an interim salary hike of 17 per cent.

Addressing the pressperson after a meeting Bommai said,” As an interim relief, the state government will provide a 17 percent hike to government employees. Orders in this regard will be issued soon.”

Following Bommai’s announcement the government employees are likely to withdraw their protest soon.

The employees had put forward their demands including, the implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission report and implementation of at least 40 percent of fitment facilities, and reverting to the Old Pension Scheme.
