Bengaluru: Respecting the pressure by farm sciences’ students, who dissented for 22 days demanding rejecting of private colleges offering agricultural courses, the State government has decided to correct the Karnataka Agriculture University Act to forestall such colleges and schools.
Declarations in such manner were made in the State governing body on Monday by Agriculture Minister N.H. Shivashankara Reddy and Higher Education Minister G.T. Deve Gowda.
Mr. Reddy told the Legislative Council that the legislature is working out modalities to put a sweeping prohibition on private colleges or private universities from offering agricultural courses.
“If possible, we will table the change in the ongoing session itself,” he said. He was reacting to BJP member N. Ravi Kumar, who raised the issue of student’s strike. In spite of the fact that they have incidentally pulled back the strike, they had boycotted examinations requesting the conclusion of Rai Technological University, a private college, Mr. Kumar said.
