Bengaluru: The government has decided to install CCTV cameras on electric poles to monitor those people who dispose garbage on the roadside in the city.

Amid the rising dengue cases in the state, Bengaluru Development Minister D.K. Shivakumar said the several people just dump the garbage by the roadside and this contributes to the spread of diseases. Therefore, we will monitor those who are littering,” he told reporters on Tuesday.

“People are throwing garbage on the roadside instead of disposing it in the waste collection vehicles that come to their homes. To prevent this, a camera surveillance system will be implemented. Instructions have been given to install CCTV cameras on LED streetlight poles. Instructions have also been given to identify and file cases against those who dispose of garbage and construction waste improperly,” he added.
