Govt well wasted due to lack of maintenance

Katapady: The government well located at Brahmanagar in Pitrody Muddalagudde within Udyavar Gram Panchayat limits has gone to a waste due to the lack of maintenance. Plants have grown from within the well. The lack of proper maintenance including desilting, the water in the well has become polluted. If in case the well is repaired, then the demand for water from the locals can be satiated.
Discoloured tap water
There are more than 50 houses in this area and earlier were using the water from the very well. Now, the panchayat has provided them with pipe water. But the water being provided through the pipes is mostly yellowish in colour and not of much use.
The resident’s here inform that they face the problem of lack of drinking water in case of an emergency, when additional water is required, but there is a power cut and no supply of water through the pipes.
“This problem has not yet come to the notice. The three wells within Udyavar GP limits are maintained through desilting. Along with that, the government well at Muddalagudde too is maintained. For the welfare of the people, the maintenance of the well be taken within the next 10 days,” said Ramananda Puranik, PDO, Udyavar GP
“We have only requested the concerned officials to take notice of the problem here,” informs Girish Suvarna, Udyavar GP Member
