Mangaluru: RTO will soon install Global Positioning System (GPS) in all the city buses.

The GPS enabled buses will helps the RTO have more access on the buses plying on the roads.

Several commuters had earlier complained about bus drivers taking different roads to reach the destinations or sometimes taking unauthorised roads and violating timings.

RTO along with MCC and Mangaluru Smart City Project will together work towards this.

G S Hegde, deputy commissioner of transport and in-charge senior RTO, said that with the introduction of the GPS, the speed at every interval, the route taken and the time taken at the bus shelters will be tracked among other details.

Hedge said a central control room will be set up in the RTO office to monitor the movement of all vehicles.
