Gram panchayat officer ends life in office premises

Mangaluru: A gram panchayat official was found hanging inside the panchayat office toilet here today.

The deceased has been identified as Krishnaswamy (47), panchayat development officer (PDO) of Munnur gram panchayat. 

Krishnaswamy who was reportedly an alcoholic was residing at Kulai with his family. He is survived by his wife and a daughter.

Police have received a death note which stated that he alone was responsible for his death. He has also requested the government to provide a job to his wife so that she can look after their only daughter. The note however does not disclose the reason for the extreme step that he had taken.

Ullal police have registered a case.
