Mangaluru: As per the wishes of the devotees, the grand celebration of this year’s Dasara festivities will be held at the Sri Gokarnanatha Kshetra in Kudroli from September 26 to October 6, said B. Janardhan Poojary on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters after a preparatory meeting on Dasara celebrations held on Sunday, he said that more than 10 lakh people from various districts and states are expected to attend the Mangaluru Dasara celebrations this year.
‘Annadana’ along with religious services will be held every day at the temple during the festive days. Moreover, it has been decided to conduct the ‘Chandika Yaga’ in a glass dome for the convenience of the devotees, he said.
Chief Minister Bommai to be invited
Poojary further added that Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will be invited to the iconic Mangaluru Dasara. “I will personally deliver the invitation card to the chief minister,” he said.
Treasurer of the temple Padmaraj R told the media that a ‘Rajata Peetha’ (Silver throne/pedestal) for the chief deity Sharada is being prepared from the contributions received from the devotees. Its dedication will take place on September 24. A devotee will present a silver veena as a gift, he added.
He said that some minor changes have been made in the procession for the benefit of the devotees.
