Grieving wife dies hours after husband’s demise

Mangaluru: In a tragic incident, a grieving wife died of a cardiac arrest barely two hours after her husband’s demise here at Masthikatte in Ullal on Wednesday, April 28 night.

The deceased are identified as Nazeer Ahmed (62) and Jameela (54).

On Wednesday night Ahmed who was suffering from pneumonia was being taken to a hospital at Thokottu as he had high blood pressure. He however died on the way at around 12.30 am and his body was brought back home. Saddened by his demise, Jameela suffered a cardiac arrest at around 2.30 am and breathed her last.

Ahmed was chief secretary of Muslim League Ullal zone and had contested for city panchayat on two occasions on a Congress ticket. He also served as joint secretary of Ullal Block Congress and as president of the supervisory committee of Urdu school at Melangadi for 15 years.

He was a contractor for the drinking water of Ullal city municipality.

The couple’s last rites were held on Thursday, April 29 at Mayyadgar of Ullal Darga campus.
