Bengaluru: Disappointed over the state government’s apathy towards guest lecturers from various first grade colleges, the Karnataka State Government Degree College Guest Lecturers’ Association has decided to stage a protest on February 8.

About 14,531 guest lecturers have several demands including that they should be made permanent based on seniority in service and age, thus providing them job security. Further they are also demanding equal work and paid maternity leave.

Sources say that the protest will begin at 11 am on February 8 with the garlanding of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue at Anand Rao Circle in the state capital, followed by a march to Freedom Park.
