Gullible woman loses Rs 3.55 lakh online

Udupi: A woman, lost Rs 3.55 lakh after believing a  fake coupon that was sent by an online company saying that she had won a prize for the online purchase that she had done and acting upon their suggestions.

The woman identified as Pallavi (29) from Neelavara had made online purchase from NAAPTOL online company. On April 25, she received a ‘Scratch and Win’ coupon through post. on scratching the coupon, it revealed that she had won Rs 12 lakh. She immediately called the number mentioned on the cupon and a person identifying himself as Ashwin Kumar received the call and informed her that she represented Naaptol Company confirmed that she had indeed won Rs 12 lakh. He further asked her to send Rs 3,55,800 for expenses towards service charge, security deposit, GST and other charges.

According to the complaint filed in the CEN crime police station, a man by the name Ajay Kumar made Pallavi deposited the money into various accounts.
