Gundlupet quarry landslip: Body of second worker found; Efforts on to locate the third

Gundlupet (Chamarajanagar): The mortal remains of another worker buried in the stone quarry landslip here were recovered on the second day of rescue operations on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Uttar Pradesh Based Hitachi driver Mirajuddin (22). He had been trapped under the heavy rocks, and it took 11 hours to locate and recover his body. The rescued had to blast the huge rock with dynamite to recover the body. The mortal remains were sent to the district hospital.

On Saturday, the body of another worker named Azeemulla, was recovered. With this, the number of deceased in the tragedy has risen to two.

Over 100 rescuers of NDRF, SDRF, and the fire brigade are continuing the search to locate the third laborer trapped in the debris.
