Gurpur landslide: DC meets affected families

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra met with families affected by the landslide at Matadagudde in Gurpur here.

The administration has identified around 4-acres of land, falling under limits of Ganjimutt gram panchayat, for the rehabilitation of the landslide-affected families.

Citing at unavailability of suitable land, for constructing permanent houses, under Gurupur gram panchayat limits, the DC said that while relocating to a new place would be difficult, it makes sense to get shifted rather than build houses at Matadagudde and invite more trouble.

The DC, accompanied by MLA Dr Y Bharath Shetty also discussed compensation issues for affected families.
