Bantwal: The swine flu (H1N1) virus claimed the life of a 22-year-old woman at Sajipanadu, merely six days after the death of mother due to the same virus while another patient suspected to be suffering from H1N1 is being treated at the hospital.
The deceased, identified as Zabina was admitted to a hospital for treatment. However, she passed away on Tuesday morning without responding to the treatment. Notably, her mother, Avvamma, 44, died of H1N1 on October 10.
Taluk medical officer Dr Deepa Prabhu affirmed that the deaths of Zabina and Avamma was due to the swine flu virus. She further mentioned that another Sajipanadu resident admitted to the hospital is suspected to be suffering from H1N1 virus and a medical report of the patient is awaited.
Around 400 people have been diagnosed with swine flu in Karnataka state.
