Bengaluru: The Hindustan Aeronautical Limited (HAL) has agreed to give land for building an underpass on Old Airport Road  as part of the  signal-free corridor.

The HAL agreed to give 3,100 square metres of land to the BBMP following a meeting between  BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad and the chairman and managing  director of the central PSU on  Saturday. In exchange, the BBMP will develop White Tunnel Road at a cost of Rs 55 crore.

The BBMP and the HAL had signed a memorandum of understanding to this effect at the Global Investors Meet in 2016, a senior BBMP official said.

The BBMP has also asked HAL to temporary hand over the road from Ambedkar Park to Sports Complex via Punjab National Bank for traffic diversion until the underpass gets ready.
