New Delhi: A video of a TV reporter heckling the store manager of a Haldiram’s outlet over “Urdu” writing on its snack packet has gone viral on social media.
Netizens were outraged by the manner in which the reporter behaved with the store manager.
In the video, the reporter from Sudarshan TV picks up the Falhari Mixture, a popular Haldiram namkeen that is consumed by people fasting during the ongoing nine-day Hindu festival of Navratri, and questions the store manager if Haldiram’s trying to conceal anything by writing the description of the namkeen packet in Urdu.

The store manager says that the description has been written in English, Hindi as well as Urdu and asks why she is focused on the Urdu content.
When the reporter keeps ranting about “Urdu writing” and “betraying Hindus who fast during Navratri”, the store manager retorts saying that you can buy the namkeen if you want it or she can leave it and go if she doesn’t.
Following the incident, Haldiram has been trending on Twitter. This is how netizens reacted to it:
Here is some Urdu text. Will this reporter go to the Railways and ask what it is about? #Haldirams pic.twitter.com/DGZ8KDUoXv

Kisi bhi joker ko camera ke saamne mic pakda dete hain aajkal. Zero logic in her questions. This is more a clown act than journalism. Should have been thrown out of the shop for creating nuisance. https://t.co/DocVIVtK3Q

Amazing restraint by the Haldiram staff. BTW, Sudarshan’s ‘sherni’ should know that it’s Arabic and not Urdu. Haldiram exports to muliple Muslim majority countries who buy Indian products without discrimination.pic.twitter.com/jic6ASOo15
