Hampi Utsav to be held in second week of January

Ballari: Hampi Utsav will be held in the second week of January 2019 informed Deputy Commissioner Ram Prasath Manohar on Friday, December 14,  the cultural extravaganza this time will be a low-key affair.

Addressing presspersons here, the Ram Prasath said that this time the event will be just for two days and not for three like usual. 

The district administration has already sent a proposal with an estimated expenditure of `8.5 crores has been sent the government to have the Utsav on January 12 and 13,  the government will take a call on the dates and the  district in-charge minister will announce the dates of the Utsav, he informed

The time there will be only four stages, one each at Virupaksha temple premises, Ediru Basavanna temple, Kadalekalu Ganesha and Sasivekalu. 

This year the focus will be more on local artists. Several events like sound and light show and stages like the one at M P Prakashnagar will not be there this time, informed sources.
