Hanagal: After the BJP announced fielding Shivaraj Sajjnar from the Hanagal assembly constituency for the by-polls, discontent, and outrage surfaced among party workers here.
Many party workers protested and demanded a BJP ticket for MP Shivakumar’s wife Revathi Udasi.
The disgruntled workers shut down the local BJP office and took to the streets to express their outrage. They then set tyres ablaze on the road and demanded the resignation of all the BJP office bearers from their posts. Refusing to do party work if Shiraj was the BJP candidate, they demanded “justice for locals.”
Protests were seen at Akkialur, Adoor, Bommanahalli, and other parts of the taluk. Some also shed tears at the grave of late C.M Udasi whose demise had vacated the Hanagal assembly seat.
