Hanur (Chamarajanagar): A woman and her two daughters drowned at the Gopinatham reservoir while washing clothes on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Meena (33), Pavitra (13) and Keerthi (11) of Pudur village under Gopinatham village panchayat of taluk.

It is gathered that Meena along with her daughters and son Surendra had been to the reservoir in the morning to wash clothes. While rinsing the clothes, Meena slipped and fell into the water. Pavitra and Keerthi rushed to her aid, but tragically met the same fate.

Surendra, who was at the scene, promptly informed his father and sought help. By the time assistance arrived, it was too late to save the trio. The bodies of Meena, Pavitra, and Keerthi were retrieved from the reservoir with the help of villagers and subsequently sent for post-mortem examination.

Malemahadeshwara Betta Police Station has registered a case regarding the incident.
