Kundapur: “BJP won in eight assembly constituencies in two districts due to the hard work put in by party activists. The results have shown that activists have worked in my favour in every booth,” said Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje crediting her victory to the efforts of her party activists. She was speaking at a programme held to congratulate the activists at the BJP office in Kundapur.

“The efforts of activists have translated into 30% more voter turnout than in Bengaluru. I assure to look into the development of the constituency,” she added.

Speaking on the hardship faced by citizens as the flyover work has stopped near Shashtri Circle the MP said, “As Nitin Gadkari is the minister of highways, I will meet him on June 6 and take immediate action. It is intended to upgrade state highways in the two districts as national highways. I will try to implement this soon. There will be efforts to lay dual tracks on Konkan railways, increase trains and their speed. Ports of Kodi Kanyana and Hejmady Kodi will be upgraded for the convenience of fishermen community with increased grant and implementation. Fisheries road will be widened on priority and more emphasis will be given to tourism. I will try to implement the schemes of the government on priority in the districts,” said Karandlaje.

“Special priority will be given to fishermen in next five years. I will ensure their needs are met and obstacles removed. Their contribution is immense in the country,” she added.

Suvarna Tribhuja

Responding to a a query regarding the death of fishermen on Suvarna Tribhuja the MP said “The investigations could not be continued due to model code of conduct. This will be continued with cooperation from former defense minister Nirmala Sitharaman after oath taking. I will make sure that compensation is paid to the families,” and added that a report on deaths of seven fishermen in the sea has been received.

“The state government is neglecting our district. A meeting of the committee formed of seven people will be held in the leadership of district administration to solve sand issue. The projects of constructing houses by the government are delayed due to shortage of sand. State government is directly responsible for it. The MLAs will meet the chief minister to solve the problem,” she informed.

“JD(S) and Congress parties in the state are neglecting people. We will remain quiet as long as the MLAs remain in their respective parties. BJP will welcome them if they leave their parties and come out,” she claimed.
