Hassan: A car collided with lorries on National Highway 75 on the outskirts of the city near Kandali here on early Sunday morning, resulting in the death of all six occupants of the car. The deceased include two women, three men, and a child from the same family.

The victims have been identified as Narayanappa, Sunanda, Ravikumar, Netra, Chetan (child), and Rakesh (driver). All were residents of Andarahalli and Karahalli villages near Hoskote taluk and Devanahalli.

The accident occurred when the family members were returning in the Toyota Etios car after visiting a relative who was receiving treatment in Mangaluru.

It is suspected that the driver’s drowsiness may have led to the accident. The car hit the road divider, veered into the opposite lane, and collided with a container truck. The car was severely damaged, and the rescuers struggled to extricate the bodies from the wreckage.

The bodies were transported to the mortuary at Hassan’s HIMS Hospital for post-mortem examination. The Hassan Traffic Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
