Hassan: A stabilizer in the air-conditioning system of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Hassan Medical College (HIMS) exploded, however, thanks to the prompt action and awareness of the staff, a major disaster was averted.
The incident caused the ward to be engulfed in smoke, creating a tense and anxious atmosphere. Realizing the urgency of the situation, the staff immediately took action, opening the windows and doors to ventilate the ward and ensure the safety of the 24 newborns under their care.
The quick response and efficiency of the medical team were commendable, as they swiftly moved the infants to a secure location, ensuring their well-being and ultimately saving their lives. The parents and local community were profoundly relieved by the timely and effective efforts displayed by the hospital staff.
In response to the incident, Dr. Ravikumar, the Director of HIMS, and Dr. Krishnamurthy, the Medical Superintendent of the hospital, personally visited the affected ward.
