Mangaluru: The district Congress committee on Monday, October 12 demanded Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath resignation and political retirement over the Hathras rape and murder case.

Addressing Presspersons Congress party’s legal and human rights department president Vinayaraj said, “BJP leaders who speak about protecting Hindu women have not raised a single word in favour of Hathras rape victim. Not even the district MLAs and MPs have said a word.”

“Mithun Rai was detained for questioning about Yogi Adityanath over the Hathras rape and cremation of the victim in the middle of the night, while BJP is taking political mileage by manipulating statements,” he added.

“Yogi Adityanath should learn from Basavanna, Shankaracharya, Madhwacharya and Swami Vivekananda. Questioning is the right of every citizen. If Yogi Adityanath does not want to be questioned by the people, then let him resign and take political retirement and work for the welfare of society,” he said.

He further addded, “Is it a crime to question Yogi Adityanath? BJP should answer this. Yogis, saints, pontiffs have a special respect, irrespective of the religion they treat everyone equally and do not have greed for power. But Yogi Adityanath delivers statements which are anti-social, which are already circulated on social media. What is BJP’s stand on this? Being a Yogi, can he speak anything anti-social?.”
