Haveri: At least 2 killed, several injured after bus falls off overpass on NH4

Haveri: At least two persons were killed and several others injured as a private bus fell off an overpass onto the service road below on National Highway-4 near Devagiri here on Saturday.

The bus operated by Vijananda Roadlines (VRL) was moving from Bengaluru to Gokak when the accident occurred. It is gathered that the driver of the ill-fated bus and another passenger lost their lives. At least 15 others sustained injures in the accident.

The locals gathered after hearing the loud noise as the bus hit the service road. Police were informed and a rescue operation was initiated.

Emergency services used cranes to lift the bus to reach the injured victims who were then rushed to nearby hospitals.

A case has been registered at the Haveri Rural Police Station.
