Haveri: Horrific accident on National Highway claims 13 lives, including two children

Haveri: A horrific accident occurred near Gundenahalli Cross on the Pune-Bengaluru National Highway in Byadagi Taluk. A Temp Traveller (TT) vehicle collided with a stationary lorry from behind, resulting in the death of 13 people, including two children.
The deceased were residents of Yemmehatti village in Bhadravati Taluk, Shivamogga district.
The victims have been identified as Parashuram (45), Bhagya (40), Nagesh (50), Vishalakshi (50), Subhadra Bai (65), Punya (50), Manjula Bai (57), driver Adarsh (23), Manasa (24), Roopa (40), Manjula (50), and two children aged 4 and 6 years (names yet to be confirmed).
Arpita (18) and three others, who were injured, are receiving treatment at the district hospital.
The accident occurred around 3:30 AM when the group was returning to Bhadravati after visiting the Yellamma Temple in Savadatti, Belagavi district.
The TT was severely damaged, and the bodies of the deceased were retrieved by fire department personnel and sent to the district hospital.
A total of 17 people were traveling in the TT vehicle. Out of them, 13 lost their lives, and four injured passengers are receiving treatment at the district hospital, informed SP Anshukumar.
