Bengaluru:  The Karnataka High Court on Monday, January 7 directed the public prosecutor not to investigate the case against TV anchor Ajith Hanumakkanavar till January 16. Ajith is facing a case for defaming the Prophet during a debate in a TV programme.

The bench headed by Justice PS Dinesh Kumar after hearing the petition filed by Ajith Hanumakkanavar seeking cancellation of the case issued the order that not to investigate the case against Ajith Hanumakkanavar.

The case was transferred from Mangaluru South police station to High Grounds police station of Bengaluru, therefore the high court has asked the public prosecutor to inform the court on action taken by the High Grounds police.

The case filed in Mangaluru South police station against Ajith stated that he had intentionally insulted the Islam and Muslims beliefs. So legal action should be taken against him.

Ajith, during a debate, had insulted the Prophet by criticizing him in foul language.
