The High Court has issued a stay order in the case involving Bajrang Dal leader Sharan Pumpwell, who was accused of placing saffron flags on shops operated by Hindus near the Sri Mangaladevi temple.
Justice T.G. Shivashankar Gowda presided over the petition filed by Sharan Pumpwell to have temporarily halted the proceedings.
The petitioner was represented by senior counsel Arun Shyam. Sharan Pumpwell and his associates had hung saffron flags on Hindu-run shops surrounding the Sri Mangaladevi temple. Subsequently, a case was filed against Sharan Pumpwell and others following a complaint by the Sub-Inspector of the Mangalore South Police Station.
