The Karnataka High Court has quashed an FIR filed against BJP leaders, including Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, BJP National President J.P. Nadda, and former Karnataka BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel, in connection with allegations of misuse of electoral bonds.

The FIR, registered at Tilak Nagar Police Station in Bengaluru, accused the BJP’s national and state units of extorting crores of rupees in donations through the misuse of the Enforcement Directorate and the electoral bond system.

Nalin Kumar Kateel, the fourth accused in the case, had filed a criminal petition seeking the dismissal of the FIR. The High Court, presided over by Justice M. Nagaprasanna, accepted the petition and issued an order quashing the FIR.
