Mysuru: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Friday, March 1 denied having questioned the contribution of Ambareesh for Mandya’s development and clarified that he had had only said the then government had not carried out much work after the platinum jubilee of the formation of Mandya district.
Addressing presspersons after visiting the Tibetan monastery at Bylakuppe Kumaraswamy said that he holds Ambareesh in utmost respect and the question of him criticising the late actor-turned-politician does not arise.
“Ambareesh and I were good friends. Why should I criticise him?,” he said while claiming credit for bringing late M.H. Ambareesh into politics.
This statement of Kumaraswamy comes in the wake of a tug of war between coalition partners — the Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular) — over contesting the Mandya Lok Sabha seat for which Ambareesh’s wife Sumalatha has staked a claim.
