Mandya: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday, February 27 questioned the contribution of the late actor-turned-politician Ambareesh to the development of the Mandya district.
Addressing presspersons here Kumaraswamy said that Ambareesh did not focus on development works. Despite this, some people are playing an emotional card.
He further added that he and Ambareesh were good friends and shared a very good relationship, but after his death, some people are trying to create misunderstandings between the two families.
” I know the respect Mandya people have on Ambareesh, that is why I had ordered to airlifted Ambareesh’s body and had given an opportunity for the people of Mandya to bid their hero a final goodbye. Some people had criticized me for that decision, but now the same people are telling that they are worried for the people of Mandya,” he said.
Kumaraswamy’s reaction comes in the backdrop of intense lobbying by actor Sumalatha, wife of late actor-turned-politician Ambareesh, for the Congress ticket for the Mandya Lok Sabha constituency. The JD(S)-Congress coalition in the state is still undecided on the number of seats to be shared between them, with Mandya turning out to be a bone of contention between the alliance partners.
