Head Constable suspended for alleged assault on DYFI activist

Belthangady: Venur police station head constable who faces accusations of harassing a DYFI activist, allegedly for being a Muslim has been suspended as per the directions of Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police (SP), Dr B R Ravikanthe Gowda.
The suspended is Taranath.
It may be recalled that DYFI activist Riyaz and his younger brother, on October 2 night had been stopped by Taranath to check the vehicle documents. Upon seeing Riyaz’s name in the driving license, Taranath is said to have verbally abused him for being a Muslim. Later he was taken to the police station where he had been assaulted.
The SP, acting on a complaint lodged by DYFI district secretary, Santosh Bajal in this regards had initiated an inquiry against Taranath.
