Karkala: Head teacher of the government model higher primary school at Kodavoor in the district has been suspended for participating in a consultation programme attended by the chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, JD(S) candidate for Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency Pramod Madhwaraj, and others at Karkala on April 7.

Apparently, the teacher had requested the concerned to provide grants for self employment schemes and also provide an opportunity to Dalits on contract basis for distributing DC Manna land of which survey has already been completed.

However, after the consultation programme the head teacher of the government model higher primary school at Kodavoor identified as Sunder was suspended for violating the model code of conduct which was already in effect in the district.

Model code of conduct

Since the model code of conduct is in effect in the district since March 10 2019, all government servants are barred from officially taking part in any of the political programmes, meetings, functions or campaigns.

Since Sunder has been found guilty of violating the model code of conduct by participating a campaign meeting with political intentions even while the code was in effect, he has been suspended from service under People’s Representatives Act with immediate effect, informed Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer
