Heavy rain expected along the coast for 2 days; Yellow alert announced

Mangaluru: Heavy rainfall has been predicted by the meteorological department beginning from Tuesday, for two days along the the three coastal districts of Karnataka. As a precautionary measure, “Yellow Alert” was announced on Tuesday.
Noting that southwest monsoon wind has been moving swiftly in coastal Karnataka, the department expects heavy rain in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and Uttara Kannada districts on October 15 and 16. Rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is also expected in the hinterlands of southern Karnataka.
Good rainfall was reported from Shivamogga, Kollur, Bhatkal and Sagar areas on Saturday night and Sunday. It is worth mentioning that the unusually intense lightning and thunder had given rise to concern among the people. It has been raining regularly since the last two weeks in Ballari district.
