Highway flooded at Cheru near Kaikamba, Subrahmanya
Subrahmanya: Heavy rainfall in the Ghat region caused severe flooding near Subrahmanya, with river water overflowing onto the highway at Cheru, close to Kaikamba, on Sunday. The flooding led to the submergence of a bridge and disrupted traffic.
The river water near Kaikamba flooded the Subrahmanya-Dharmasthala highway at Cheru, causing significant obstacles for commuters. Additionally, the Kaikamba bridge on the Kadaba-Subrahmanya road was submerged for a short period, halting traffic for a few hours. Rainfall also continued in parts of Sullia on both Saturday and Sunday.
Rainfall in Dakshina Kannada District
Mangaluru: Several areas in Dakshina Kannada district received rain on Sunday. Mangaluru city saw brief showers in the morning, though the weather remained mostly sunny and cloudy. An orange alert was issued until September 9, followed by a yellow alert until September 11, indicating the likelihood of more heavy rain.
Mangaluru recorded a maximum temperature of 27.8°C, which was 1.9°C lower than usual, and a minimum of 24.6°C, 1.5°C higher than the average.
Light Rain in Udupi
Udupi: Light rain was reported in Udupi, Byndoor, Karkala, Kundapura, Hebri, and surrounding areas. The weather alternated between sunshine and clouds, with intermittent showers on Sunday and into the early hours of Monday. Udupi and Manipal witnessed heavy rain for a short period.
Landslide on Gadikallu Main Road: Heavy Vehicles Restricted
Sullia: A landslide occurred along the Kollamogru-Kalmakkaru road near Gadikallu, where soil from a nearby stream bank collapsed, leading to restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles. Authorities have inspected the site and are planning to temporarily install sandbags to build a retaining wall.
