Heavy rainfall expected in DK

Mangaluru: As per the Karnataka state forecast Dakshina Kannada district is likely to receive moderate to heavy rains on Thursday and Friday.
It may be recalled that due to recent incessant rains and floods in the district as many as 1,129 persons, including 562 women and 316 children, rescued/evacuated owing to floods are taking shelter in 31 temporary rehab centers.
The water level of the Nethravathi river at Bantwal was 8.5metres, which is the danger level. The river continued to swell at Uppinangady too, where the water level has touched 31.4 metres against the danger level of 31.5 metres. The water level of Kumaradhara river at Uppinangady is 26 metres, against the danger level of 26.5 metres. Meanwhile, the water level in Disha Power Project dam at Gundya has risen to 5.2 metres against the danger level of 5 metres.
