Heavy rainfall in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi: Various parts of Dakshina Kannada district experienced intermittent heavy rainfall on Monday during the daytime, causing minor damages in some areas. Udupi district also saw heavy rainfall in many places.
In Mangaluru city and rural areas, there was heavy rain for about an hour in the morning, which later subsided. Puttur, Kadaba, Subrahmanya, and Bantwal regions also received good rainfall in the morning and evening.
In Udupi district, there was continuous rain in Kundapur, Byndoor, and Karkala areas. Udupi, Manipal, and Malpe regions experienced intermittent rain with thunderstorms late on Sunday night and Monday.
MESCOM Suffers Losses of Rs. 25.72 Lakhs
The strong winds and rain caused damage to electric poles and wires, resulting in prolonged power outages in many places. Over the past three days, 151 electric poles, 3.13 km of electric wire, and 20 transformers have been damaged, causing a total loss of Rs. 25.72 lakhs to MESCOM.
Orange Alert Issued for Today and Tomorrow
The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an “Orange Alert” for the coastal region on Tuesday and Wednesday. Heavy rain with thunderstorms is expected for the next two days.
Rough Sea Conditions
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea as wind speeds could range from 35-45 km/h to 55 km/h. According to the forecast until 11:30 PM on June 11, the sea is expected to be rough with waves reaching heights of 2.0-2.2 meters along the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi coasts.
