Udupi: Deputy Commissioner has extended the school holiday to Tuesday as a precaution as the rains continue to batter the district.
All schools and colleges — undergraduate degree, post-graduate, engineering, diploma and ITI colleges — in the district shall remain closed on July 25, Udupi DC Dr K Vidyakumari ordered. Schools remained closed on Monday due to the prediction of heavy rains.
Meanwhile, IMD has predicted heavy rainfall to continue in the district. An orange alert has been issued.
Further, the DC warned people to take necessary precautions. Due to high sea waves and overflowing waterbodies, entry for the public and tourists has been prohibited to the beaches, rivers, and waterfalls, she added.
