Heavy rains rattle Udupi district; several areas inundated

Udupi: Heavy rains have been lashing various parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts for the past 24 hours causing damage at several places

Several areas of Udupi city and Manipal are inundated and roads of the city are submerged in water.

The Udupi-Mangalore highway  near Katapadi has been closed and people are forced to take the  alternative road. Also, Padubidri road has been inundated and if the situation gets worse then it will be closed too

Visitors parking area of Udupi Sri Krishna Math is submerged in water. Areas on the banks of river Shambavi are flooded.

Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary has instructed to send NDRF force from Mangaluru to Udupi to deal with the situation.
