Surathkal: The Kodi Mara (a wooden pillar erected outside temples in South India) of Kodaminattaya shrine at Shibaruru came crashing down due to the heavy winds on Saturday night.
The pillar fell on the roof top of the Daivasthana damaging it. The localites consider this to be a signal of an impending disaster. The Kodimara had been resurrected a few years ago.
A similar incident was reported from Sasitthala Sarantha Garodi where the Kodi Mara is said to have cracked generating a sense of imminent doom.
