Hebri: Occupants of Maruti Alto car had a miraculous escape after the vehicle they were traveling in caught fire due to a battery short circuit on early Tuesday, March 16 morning.
The incident took place while Ramesh, a native of Haveri was going back home along with his family after attending a pooja at Hiriyadka.
On receiving the info Karkala Fire personnel rushed to the spot and successfully doused the fire.
Short circuits in vehicles usually happen when the electrical wiring system is tampered to fit extra accessories. Mechanical defects like oil or fuel leakage, overheating of the engine and high pressure at vulnerable parts can also cause a fire.
