High alert in Tumkur after COVID-19 patient dies

Tumkuru: Following the death of a person, infected with COVID-19 in Tumkur, district Deputy commissioner Dr Rakesh Kumar announced a high alert in the district and directed public not to come out of their houses unnecessarily.
Addressing a news conference, he said that, the district administration is busy tracing the primary and secondary contacts of the patient and that the funeral of the deceased will be carried out as instructed by the government.
“Around 25 persons, including the three wives and sixteen children of the deceased, are now in-home quarantine.
FIR would be filed on those who violate home quarantine rules and essentials will be supplied to them by volunteers,” he said.
He also gave details of the travel history of the deceased.
On March 5, the man had travelled to Delhi in Sampark Kranti Express train in order attend a function at Jamia Mosque in Delhi.
He returned to Bengaluru by Kongu Express (S9 coach) on March 14 and took a bus to Sira.
On March 18, he was diagnosed with fever and on March 21 he was taken to a local hospital.
Later, he was shifted to the district hospital on March 24.
Lastly, the DC informed that the district hospital will be converted to Covid-19 hospital and Sridevi Hospital will be converted into District hospital, he said.
