Mangaluru: Karnataka Deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar on Saturday expressed hope in Congress party emerging victorious in Dakshina Kannada district this time round.
Addressing a gathering here, Shivakumar said, “Nothing is constant in politics. We are hopeful that people want a change. The possibility of Congress emerging victorious in the district has increased,”
Commenting on the state governments decision on allowing establishments to conduct business till 1 am, the DyCM said that life in Mangaluru comes to a standstill by 7 pm in the evening. “We have plans for this district. We aim to create employment and stop people from migrating to other cities. When business increases, people will get jobs,” he stated.
Further he stated that though there are several educational institutions here, children are dropping out. Religion has become politics here.
Regarding the Gerosa school issue, Shivakumar said that legal proceedings are underway. Whatever the politicians do, the law will take its own course. I’m not going to do police work; the police will do it themselves, he said.
