High-level panel formed to solve land and shelter problems

Bengaluru: A high-level panel has been formed to review and formulate steps towards providing land and shelter to the landless and the homeless of the state.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s meeting on Wednesday with Bhoomi Mattu Vasati Hakku Vanchitara Horata Samiti has decided to form a panel and to campaign on behalf of the poor who have been without land and homes.

The eight member panel will be formed with Additional Chief Secretary-cum-development commissioner heading the panel. Meeting shall be conducted every two months to review the progress of providing land and housing along with the required measures according to the government order.

Social activist Sirimane Nagaraj, who is a part of the Samiti, called it an important milestone in their struggle in the past two years.
