High security prison to set up in Mudipu

Mangaluru: Rs.85 crore has been allocated to the construction work of a high security prison in Mudipu near Mangaluru.
Proposal for a high security prison was made after frequent clashes were noticed between the inmates in the District Prison, which is currently accommodating over 400 inmates.
The district prison, despite security checks the police have found mobile phones, weapons, drugs and other items which are not allowed in the jail.
The high security prison will come up in 67.89 acres of land in Mudipu. The entrance would have spikes and automatic doors.
