The Karnataka Examination Authority has informed that the high court ruling on hijab will be applicable to students appearing for the Karnataka Common Entrance Test.
Earlier in March this year, the Karnataka High court upheld the ban on hijab in classrooms after holding that the wearing of headscarves by Muslim women was not an essential religious practice.
Following the verdict, the state government had banned Hijab for students appearing for SSLC and PUC exams. Now, the same rule will be applicable for KCET exams.
The KCET exams is scheduled to take place on June 16, 17 and 18 at various test centres across the state.
