Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district commissioner Dr Rajendra KV on Monday, March 14 declared holiday to schools and colleges in the district on Tuesday, March 15, as the Karnataka High will declare its verdict on the hijab ban issue.

“We are declaring holiday to all schools and colleges, However, external examinations would be there as per the schedule and internal exams will be postponed,” the DC said.

Prohibitory orders has also been issued in the entire district.

The case seeking permission to allow Muslim girls to attend classes in schools and pre-university colleges where there is a prescribed school uniform had led to tension on the campuses of educational institutions in the state.

The full bench of the Karnataka High Court, which concluded its hearing in the Hijab case, is likely to pronounce its verdict on Tuesday.
