Udupi: District in-charge Minister S Angara on February 8 denied the allegations that the Hijab controversy erupted because of administrative failures.

“District administration did not cause the Hijab controversy,” he said.

Further, he said that BJP has no need to gain political mileage from the controversy.

The minister also said that the government has followed Court guidelines and it was impossible to have a different dress code for every community.

Earlier in the day, Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat, who heads the government PU college development committee, released the documents signed by the students declaring that they would abide by the rules of the institution at the start of the academic year.

The MLA said the students had signed a document that explained the compulsory uniform in the college.
