Hijab row: K’taka HC uploads interim order banning religious dress in colleges

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has uploaded the interim order passed in the Hijab Ban case on Thursday.
The interim order was issued by the full bench comprising CJ Awasthi, Justice Krishna S Dixit and Justice J M Khazi.
“We restrain all the students regardless of their religion or faith from wearing saffron shawls (Bhagwa), and connected matters scarfs, hijab, religious flags or the like within the classroom”, the Court said.
The Court further clarified, “We make it clear that this order is confined to such of the institutions wherein the College Development Committees have prescribed the student dress code/uniform.”
The Court has also requested the State to re-open the educational institutions at the earliest.
”We request the State Government and all other stakeholders to reopen the educational institutions and allow the students to return to the classes at the earliest,” it added.
