Hijab-saffron shawl controversy: Sec 144 to be imposed around all high schools in Udupi from Feb 14 to 19

Udupi: As a precautionary measure following the ongoing hijab – saffron shawl controversy, prohibitory orders under Section 144 has been imposed around all the high schools in Udupi.
The section will be in effect from February 14, 6 am to February 19, 6 pm.
The prohibitory order has been clamped following a request by the district Superintendent of Police to deputy commissioner Kurma Rao for imposing section 144 around 200 mtrs surrounding all the high schools.
As per the section, the assembly of five or more members around the school perimeter is not allowed. Any activity that disturbs an individual’s personal faith or religion is prohibited.
All sorts of gatherings including protests, rallies, or protests are banned. Carrying sticks, clubs, knives or machetes and such articles that constitute lethal weapons is prohibited. Inciting slogans, songs, speeches are strictly barred.
